  • Mejicojohn's Last Ride--for real

This is mejicojohn's son writing, sometimes known as amazingdoggo.

Now that the family has been notified (I think we got everybody) I'm going to post an entry here so that the rest of the world will know what's going on.

On the evening of September 4th, mejicojohn decided to go for a spin on his motorcycle.  Not long after leaving the house, he had some difficulty on the road (maybe because it had been raining?  not sure) and his motorcycle fell over.  He lifted it back up by himself and moved it across the road.  By the time he had finished, he was having a heart attack.

Several hours later, while in intensive care at the Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross hospital) in Nuevo Laredo, at about 1:30 or 2:00 in the morning, he had another heart attack.  I think the doctor said they spent about a half hour trying to resuscitate him, without success.

Today he is laid up in the funeral home (these things happen very quickly here when there are no complications).  Tomorrow we are going to bury him at the Jardín de los Angeles in Nuevo Laredo, next to his step-son Alan.

His wish was to be buried here (in Mexico)--we had discussed it before, more than once, so I am one hundred percent certain about that--and his widow's only request, now that all of us gringos will be leaving, was not to take him across the river.

Some people have speculated that he somehow felt (physically or otherwise) what was about to happen.  All I can say is that if he were feeling ill, he never mentioned it to me.  But if he had sat down and planned the whole thing, he could not have done a better job.

Some of you may have questions or comments, so I will be checking back when I can to respond to those.  I know that several of you have been friends of his for a few years now--the names Tia Loca, Granny Karen, Martna, and many others, occurred often enough in our "real world" conversations that I know you all meant something to him.  Thank you all for having been his friend.

  • good news/bad news neither confirmed

drugs are irrelevant to me,, and may be for some of you,, but even tho they themselves are irrelevant,, the consequences arent.

the good news,,, for those south of california anyway,,,

California's Prop 19, on legalizing marijuana, could end Mexico's drug war

MEXICO CITY -- On Nov. 2, Californians will vote on Proposition 19, deciding whether to legalize the production, sale and consumption of marijuana. If the initiative passes, it won't just be momentous for California; it may, at long last, offer Mexico the promise of an exit from our costly war on drugs.

The costs of that war have long since reached intolerable levels: more than 28,000 of our fellow citizens dead since late 2006; expenditures well above $10 billion; terrible damage to Mexico's image abroad; human rights violations by government security forces; and ever more crime. In a recent poll by the Mexico City daily Reforma, 67 percent of Mexicans said these costs are unacceptable, while 59 percent said the drug cartels are winning the war.

    the bad news,,, ears.

U.S. may drastically boost funding to aid Mexico's war on drug gangs

The Obama administration is considering a substantial spending increase on the Mexican drug war, the latest sign of its growing concern about the rampant violence incited by narcotics cartels in Mexico.

yea,, hes got a big set of ears,, but nothing but air between them...
wasnt it nixon who said,,, "just say no"???

i guess as the illustrious teddy beer once said,, "the us is awash with money",,, i think it was teddy beer...
so ill add,,  why not throw some of it  down south to fund butchering our southern neighbors.
i think nixon,, or whoever said,, just say no,,, had a better idea.. i suggest you keep your money in your wallet.
